I Can’t Stand My Baby
A-Side: I Can’t Stand My Baby
B-Side: I Wanna Be Your Man
Record label: Sensible FAB 1 (Re-issue)
Producer: Unknown
Released: 08/79
Re-released for all the fans who loved it first time around. Re-reviewed to satisfy me ‘cos I still love it. It’s such a shame that a band such as The Rezillos should split up when there’s a load of poxy groups around that I’d like to see the back of.
This is totally typical of the band at their best. High energy, poppy, punky power. And the unique voice of Fay fife. Good value with “I Wanna Be Your Man” on the flip-side. It’s been out for a while, but that won’t stop you from buying it. (Sounds, 18/08/79)
Second re-release of the week, and rightly so as this is the band’s finest moment, two years old and still fresh as milk, although I suspect somebody has done something naughty with the mix. However, who could quibble at the wiggy eccentricities of the barely house-trained guitars and Fay’s anxious uncertainty? Not I. (NME, 18/08/79)
Originally recorded at Barclay Towers, Edinburgh, June 1977.
The original release of this record sold out of the quantity that were pressed in 1977, and although The Rezillos subsequently recorded with Sire Records, and have now disbanded, they have all individually agreed that this record should be available once more to satisfy the thousands of fans who never managed to get it first time round.
