Ever since I heard it live, I’ve been in love with this song. I’ve been in love with The Starjets too. Play the single and it attacks you from the start, springing into life and bouncing, no roaring, through with typically Irish confident energy.

‘War stories. Sergeant Fury. Captain Hurricane. Johnny Red.’ A throwback from all those soldiers mags that dads read when their kids aren’t looking. I hope this is a hit. (Sounds, 18/08/79)

A gem, which is so wonderful it’ll even survive the stigma of being Peter Powell’s Record of the Week. Bouncy melody that sticks like fly paper given raunchy backing and infectious beat. No longer mixed-up, wimpy – cute pop they’ve sorted out their act with the help of David Batchelor’s production provided fine testimony to their talents. Undertones, Stiffs, Starjets . . . . Belfast is the place to be. (Record Mirror, 11/08/79)
