Pink Floyd – Let There Be More Light (Coda Records) 2019

Taken from the album “The Heart Of The Sun” (Coda Records Ltd) 2019

This album was a recent purchase from a stallholder at the Indoor Market in Durham. I was completely oblivious that the record existed but it seems that it’s had several pressings since it’s first release in 2004.

I’m unsure if this is a legitimate release on Coda Records Ltd, I’ve never seen it listed on any record-dealer lists I receive or record shops I’ve snooped around in. Let’s just say the record is available on Discogs if anyone is curious enough to buy it.

The front of the gold and back cover states that the numbers are live broadcasts from 1968 mostly by the post Syd Barrett line-up of Pink Floyd.

According to the information on the back cover . . . . This is the powerful record of Pink Floyd broadcasting live to air during the psychedelic and space rock era of 1967 and 1968.

They are from the transitional period when Dave Gilmour took over guitar and vocal duties from Syd.

The legendary Floyd performances presented here feature the Barrett led Pink Floyd line-up performing “Pow R Toc H” and “Astronomy Domine” from ‘Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’.

The Barrett performances are contrasted with the Gilmour line-up performing their own versions of material from the first album alongside highlights from ‘A Saucerful Of Secrets’ in the form of two versions of “Let There Be More Light” and the all-time Floyd favourite “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun”.
