The English Girl: Observer, 26th June 1966

The Gale Report

This is the year of Julie Christie, the year when the image of the English Girl has captured the fantasies of Europe and America as surely as the Parisian Girl before the war.

Look, the American magazine, has said: “In London, you can see hundreds of Julie Christie’s – Darlings dancing the latest at the discotheques, fingering antiques in the Portobello Road, queuing up at Covent Garden for Fonteyn and Nureyev.”
