How Do Models Really Live?: Observer, 7th November 1965

Everyone knows the bright side of a model’s life – parties, money, fantasy photographs in glossy magazines.

Any day of the week you can sit in Sands, the Bond Street restaurant near Sotheby’s, and watch the model girls come and go. The ones who look neat as a pin, with every false eyelash in place, are either Lucy Clayton’s model-course girls popping into Fenwick’s or the show models from the wholesale or couture houses that are grouped together in Mayfair.
